Alexandre Dumas’s The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the greatest adventure novels ever written, standing alongside The Three Musketeers as his most celebrated work. First published in 1844, the novel combines historical drama with a gripping tale of betrayal, imprisonment, and ultimate revenge.
The story follows Edmond Dantès, a young sailor whose promising future is destroyed by false accusations. Wrongfully imprisoned in the dreaded Château d’If, he discovers both unexpected knowledge and a hidden treasure that will change his destiny forever. Re-emerging into society under the guise of the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo, he sets out on a meticulously planned quest for justice against those who wronged him.
